If any Christian must stand against the wiles of the devil, he/she must be equipped with the whole armour of God, because every Christian is always in constant spiritual warfare against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world and against spiritual wickedness in high places, as written in EPHESIANS 6:12. These are the unseen forces that make up the army of Satan, and they throw their unseen arrows against Christians, in their unguarded moments. The Christian’s spiritual warfare is not against human beings but against these unseen forces that use them. The power and craft of the devil is so great, so much so that there is no one equal to him on earth. In his onslaught against Christians, the devil can come as a roaring lion, seeking whom to devour, as written in 1 PETER 5:8, or he can come transforming himself into an angel of light, to deceive the saints of God, using his own ministers, who also are transformed into ministers of righteousness, as written in 2 CORINTHIANS 11:14-15, and I quote, “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works. These are the false prophets, spoken about by Jesus Christ in MATTHEW 7:15, who come to genuine children of God in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Jesus Christ warns the saints of God to beware of these false prophets because they may be deceived by them, unto their eternal destruction.
And the most important part of this armour of God, is the girdle (belt) of truth, hence every Christian must study to show himself/herself approved unto God as a workman who needs not to be ashamed but rightly dividing the word of truth, as written in 2 TIMOTHY 2:15. Christians must know that all the other parts of this whole armour, that is, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the preparation of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit are hinged on the girdle of truth.
For example, when Satan, in his subtlety, came to tempt Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus used the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of truth, because he had the girdle of truth on Him. The first temptation, in MATTHEW 4:3-4, Jesus used the sword of the Spirit, by quoting from the book of DEUTERONOMY 8:3, and he said to Satan, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God. The other temptation in MATTHEW 4:8-10, again Jesus used the sword of the Spirit, by quoting from DEUTERONOMY 6:13 and said to Satan, it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve. The final temptation, in MATTHEW 4:5-7, even though the devil wrested the scripture in PSALM 91:11-12, yet Jesus rightly used the sword of the Spirit, quoting from DEUTERONOMY 6:16 and said to Satan, It is written, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. The girdle of truth enabled Jesus to rightly divide the word of truth and overcame the devil and the bible recorded in MATTHEW 4:11, that the devil left Jesus and the angels of God came and ministered to Jesus.
By the victory of Jesus over Satan, with the word of truth, it has become obvious that the girdle of truth is very important to every Christian. No wonder Jesus said in JOHN 8:32, that you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free – free indeed from all the wiles of the devil. Hence Apostle Paul said in EPHESIANS 6:14a and I quote, “STAND THEREFORE, HAVING YOUR LOINS GIRT ABOUT WITH TRUTH.” The Holy Spirit in Psalm 91:4b, also spoke about the Truth, as being the SHIELD AND BUCKLER of every saint of God. The belt or girdle of falsehood, that is, the belt of all the wrong practices, that are unbiblical and wrong teachings and all the idolatrous celebrations that go on in the churches and amongst believers in Christ, cannot make them stand before Satan and his army, neither can they protect or defend believers in Christ against Satan’s unseen arrows, that fly by day.
A Christian that puts on this whole armour and wears it night and day, can be likened to a soldier in an armoured tank, fighting against enemy forces. Any weapon that is fashioned against this kind of soldier, in this armoured tank, cannot prosper! To be GIRT ABOUT WITH THE TRUTH simply means that the word of truth should be hidden in the heart of every Christian, so as to be able to use the sword of the Spirit rightly, to overcome Satan’s temptation.
If, for example, the devil, in his usual craftiness wants to entice a Christian, with the alluring things of this world, that is full of pollutions, the Christian should be able to use the sword of the Spirit, by quoting from 1 JOHN 2:15, and say to the devil, it is written, love NOT the world and the things that are in the world for if any man loves the world, then the love of the Father is NOT in him. Or if, the devil, for example, wants to entice any child of God into committing adultery with the world, that child of God should be able to use the sword of the Spirit, quoting from JAMES 4:4 and say to the devil, it is written, YE ADULTERERS AND ADULTERESSES, KNOW YE NOT THAT THE FRIENDSHIP OF THE WORLD IS ENMITY WITH GOD? WHOSOEVER THEREFORE WILL BE A FRIEND OF THE WORLD IS THE ENEMY OF GOD. The devil will surely leave that child of God alone, as he left Jesus after (He) Jesus had overcome him, with the sword of the Spirit!
Dear readers, this post is inspired by the Spirit of truth, who has been teaching CHRISTIAN GOSPEL CHURCH, line upon line, precept upon precept, the mystery of the kingdom of Heaven, and its whole essence is to bring the righteous nation, that call upon the name of the Lord, to the knowledge of the truth, so that she can recover herself from the snare of the devil, who has taken her captive, by his false doctrines! What most believers in Christ do not know, is that it is not enough to call Jesus, Lord, Lord and not keep the word of truth, because the gates of heaven can only be opened to the righteous nation that keepeth the truth, as written in ISAIAH 26:2, and I quote, “OPEN YE THE GATES, THAT THE RIGHTEOUS NATION WHICH KEEPETH THE TRUTH MAY ENTER IN.”
Jesus Christ says in REVELATION 3:22, and I quote, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”
